Always trailing behind

This will be my post for today. I was walking the dog and took my camera with me. I tried to take the photo without looking through the viewfinder. I was not very successful. First, I was walking so most pics are a bit blurry. Second, I cannot focus properly; I had to rely on accident. Thirdly, I often missed the subject and just shot bits of sky or grass. I guess such skill needs a lot of practice. I did like some results. This one seems interesting. Even though it’s totally blurry I like it. It shows what I wanted to see and the blur can indicate the motion (I’m crossing my finger that this will be considered artistic).
Now I have to go and some stuff for tomorrow. I might get to celebrate Canada Day with my friends.

Most of the Saturday was very mundane. My cleaning lady came by, doggie spent a day at daycare, and I went shopping a bit. Later in the day I got together with Olena for a little walk in the park. She hogged my camera and kept snapping shots of me. None came out very interesting. I didn’t take interesting shots either.
It was a decent walk but a bit hot.

Wide-lens doggie

This was Sunday, the first day of a week-long rainy season. I gave the doggie a chance to run around on our way home back from Tim Horton’s. He got a little wet and dirty. I got a little frustrated and loud (trying to take photos of him). We wasted the rest of the day home doing absolutely nothing. Good times!

Draft Day

Today is draft day! I heard that Mr. Burke can do miracles on this day but I’m not very optimistic. It’s been nerve-wrecking! We are not getting Tavares that’s for sure, but maybe a second Schenn?

I’m watching M*A*S*H. My dog always howls when he hears opening credits. It’s always always funny.

Might write more after the draft. For now this is it.

King of Pop

What does it mean when the icons from your teenage years start dying? Does it mean you’ve grown up?

Yesterday’s news about Michael Jackson did one thing – it made me think. I read about his passing late in the evening and I could not believe it. Farrah Fawcett died earlier but she was older and sick, and so her death was not unexpected. But Michael…he was 50 years old! He was someone I knew about and listened to when I was in high school!

I downloaded his King of Pop 2 CD collection this morning and it turned out to be an emotional find. I did not have any of his songs in my library. But I remember that every time I heard him on the radio it was an exciting moment. Listening to “Billie Jean”, “The Way You Make Me Feel”, and “Thriller” made me realize that these are the soundtracks of my youth. I love modern music and numerous oldies, but none of those songs can stir me like “Billie Jean” or “Mr. Boombastic” or even songs by Ace of Base. These tunes never get old for me and I will never grow out of them. I guess when you are a teenager you choose with your heart more often; the music, TV shows, and books of my youth will always remain very emotional favourites because they meant so much at the time. I did not always appreciate them for their merit or meaning, but more for the turmoil they stirred in my soul.

June 25 was a sad day for many reasons. It will remain in the memory of millions as the day that the world lost the King of Pop. For me it will be the day I lost part of my youth that I did not know was still there. Life would be so much fuller if we appreciated what we have instead of reminiscing about it only after it’s gone.

Aaah! Toronto in the summer is sweet! All the wonderful smells and sights! Among them yet another strike. No garbage pick up really makes all Torontonians appreciate the workers that keep our city beautiful! We do not even mind that they strike every year or so. I mean why wouldn’t you pressure your employers for more money during the recession!

The title should be Blow From Above! Just moments after I took this photo I was lying on the grass looking through the shots when the camera slips out of my hands and smacks me right in the mouth!! Holly hell did it hurt! I thought I lost some teeth but it turns out the injury was not that bad. All I got is a hurt lip; you can’t even see it.
I’m a little sorry that it’s not worse. I’m not a masochist but my first photo injury should have been more memorable

Riddin’

This is me and Chuck at Tim Horton’s drive thru. We were returning home from the park and I decided to take a couple of pics in the car. It works well with the wide-angle lens. I tried to ask Chuck to make a face too but he wouldn’t listen.

Hiding in the grass

I had to finish a paper for my class so I did not want to go anywhere on Sunday. It was a shame ’cause the day was absolutely beautiful. Sun was shinning, warm wind blowing, and not a hint of rain.
I took the dog to the park in the morning before settling in in front of the computer. The grass was wet so Chuck got wet and dirty. I did not mind because he was quite pleasant and behaved well. By the end of the walk I managed to snap a few good shots. My zoom lens is frustrating but once in a while I get nice shots like this one. (cna’t get those with a 50mm)
I used a couple of CoffeeShop actions to process the photo. It turned out OK but I cannot get over the poor sharpness that lenses other than my 50mm have.
